Mass shootings are just the price Americans pay for freedom, according to former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly.
In a blog post on his site, O’Reilly ignored the other democracies that have gun laws and proclaimed, “This is the price of freedom.”
According to him, “Violent nuts are allowed to roam free until they do damage, no matter how threatening they are.”
He also acknowledged that the Las Vegas shooter, who has now been identified as 64-year-old Stephen Craig Paddock, of Mesquite, Nevada, “had a number of deadly weapons in his room.” He does not clarify that those “deadly weapons” were an arsenal of at least 10 guns, the Clark County Sheriff said in a Monday morning press briefing.
O’Reilly explained that sensible gun control laws will never stop people from harming others.
According to the most recent data charted, in the United Kingdom, where guns are illegal, 755 people were killed in 2009. In Australia, it was 229 in 2010. In Canada, where “gun laws [are] strict in comparison to the United States,” only 554 people were murdered. In the United States, however, the murder rate was 12,996 people in 2010.
“The Second Amendment is clear that Americans have a right to arm themselves for protection. Even the loons,” O’Reilly said
